Rav Abraham Isaac Yekutieli
1874-1944
Abraham Isaacc Yekutieli was born in Lithuania to
a well known rabbinic family of the name of Koseldoskey. He learned
in the famous Lithuanian yeshivot of his time and progressed swiftly
in his studies. With the advent of the Zionist movement, he joined
the Religious Zionists and before World War I moved to Israel. He
supported his family by teaching Gemara in Petach Tikva and in Jerusalem.
When the first branch of Ha'Poel Ha'Mizrachi was established in 1921,
Yekutieli became an active member in the religious Labor movement.
He was also noted for the influence he wielded and the respect given
him by the ultra-religious community of Jerusalem, which was notably
anti-Zionist.
