  HaRav Yitzchak Levy

Born Morocco in 1947 and currently lives in Kfar Maimon. Rav Levy served in the I.D.F. with rank of "Rav Seren".

Education: Rabbinic Ordination. Speaks Hebrew, French and Spanish.

Among his Activities and Public Works:

• Among the founders of Yeshivat HaKotel.
• Fought in the wars of Israel.
• Army Chaplain with rank of "Rav Seren."
• Head of Bnei Akiva Yeshiva in Kfar Maimon in the Negev.
• Among founders of the core settlement of Alon Moreh.
• Secretary- General of the Mafdal (1986-1992).
• Chairman of Mafdal since 1998.

Parliamentary and Governmental Activites:

Knesset member since 1998. Participatd in the following Committees in the 12th and 13th Knessets:

• Constitution Committee
• Law and Justice Committee,
• Ethics Committee
• Served as Chairman of the Lobby for Child Welfare.

In the 14th Knesset he was Minister of Transport (1996-98), Minister of Culture and Sport and Minister of Religious Affairs (in rotation( (1998-99). He was elected to the 15th Knesset and resigned from it in July 1999.

Among Laws that he initiated and were passed:

• Law making it illegal to discriminate against blind persons accompanied by seeing-eye dogs,
• amendment of municipal election regulations,
• law requiring safe transport of disabled children,
• amendment of unemployment insurance clause of the National Insurance Law,
• amendment of national education law.
