Dear Friends,

We are living through turbulent times in the State of Israel. Political tensions over the past decade have had a profound impact on the Religious Zionist Movement. These tensions have resulted in an internal lack of clarity, and to a change in the external perception of the Religious Zionist movement. In our current situation, there is a great need for the voices of the Religious Zionist leadership to be heard.

Toward that end, this component of our website is dedicated to bringing you current articles that address contemporary issues in Israeli society as they relate to the fundamental principles of Religious Zionism. The articles below relate primarily to the disengagement plan, the issue of refusal to obey military orders, the debate over the status of the Prime Minister of Israel, and reactions to the violence associated with the evacuation of Amona.

It is our hope that this site will provide an opportunity for our constituency to gain a clearer understanding of current issues and their impact on Religious Zionism, the State of Israel, and Israeli society and enrich the internal debate in the Religious Zionist community. Toward that end, we have added a discussion forum that enables readers to respond and express their opinions. We hope that you will participate and gain from this discussion.

Bivracha,
Eliezer Sheffer Co – Chairman, World Mizrachi Movement

Please note: The opinions expressed in the following articles do not express the views of the Mizrachi World Movement. The purpose of the “Ideas and Opinions” site is to familiarize Rabbis, community leaders, and members of the community who identify with the Religious Zionist ideology with the prevailing currents within the national religious movement in Israel, which includes a variety of opinions. It is our hope that the site will foster discussions which will examine these trends against the basic principles of Religious Zionist ideology. Toward that end, we have instituted a response mechanism that allows our readers to participate in that important debate. View comments on the reader forum. Your comments are welcome.
